Aladino and JRE Tobacco may not be household names in the premium cigar industry, but that doesn’t mean you haven’t enjoyed a cigar or two from these fine folks before. As a matter of fact, you’ve probably heard of a few brands made famous by them. JRE stands for Julio R. Eiroa. He’s the father of Christian Eiroa of Camacho and now CLE Cigar fame, and his factories and farms helped put those brands on the map. Julio has been growing tobacco and making cigars for over 50 years. He was the first person to grow authentic Cuban-seed Corojo tobacco outside of Cuba. This authentic Corojo leaf changed the course of the industry 20 years ago, and it continues to be one of the most sought after tobaccos on the planet. Simply put, Aladino is an under the radar brand that produces some seriously good cigars.
Have you ever wished that you could turn back time and pick up a few more of that special smoke that you’re still thinking about from 15-20 years ago? If you were a fan of the original Camacho Corojo Diploma series (the ones that came in those god-awful pyramid shaped boxes), you’re in for one heck of a treat! While the folks from Aladino can’t say this is the same blend of tobaccos, trust us when we say if it’s not the original recipe that it’s damn close. Julio Eiroa is the owner of Aladino and used to own the Camacho brand with his son, Christian. The Aladino Corojo Reserva line is made of well-aged 100% Authentic Corojo tobacco, and the Eiroas are the only tobacco growers in Honduras that grow this special leaf. Starting to see where we’re going with this? This full bodied blend features tasting notes of pepper, coffee, and natural tobacco with hints of milk chocolate, citrus, and cedar. This powerhouse cigar is the perfect compliment to a hearty meal and fine drink. It’s not too often you stumble across cigars like this, but when you do you’ll be extremely grateful that you did.
