Blackened M81 by Drew Estate is a collaboration between Drew Estate's founder, Jonathan Drew, Metallica frontman, James Hetfield, and BLACKENED American Whiskey Master Distiller & Blender, Rob Dietrich. The cigar itself is a unique exploration into the "deepest, darkest and heaviest depths of the mystical Maduro leaf”, and is composed of rich Mexican San Andres wrappers draped over a Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf Maduro Binder. For the filler, the trio decided on the finest Nicaraguan and USA Pennsylvania leaves; resulting in an extremely bold flavor, designed with the seasoned cigar smoker in mind. Flavor notes include dark chocolate, cuban coffee, spice, leather, and earth. It is important to note that this cigar took two years to create, and during the meticulous blending process, both Hetfield and Dietrich kept journals highlighting favorable flavor notes until Jonathan Drew was able to pinpoint the perfect blend that all three embraced.
