Gran Habano is a great boutique cigar company helmed by the father and son duo of Guillermo Rico and George Rico. But their roots run deeper than that. George represents the fourth generation of Rico men in the tobacco industry. In 2003, these two launched their now famous Gran Habano family of cigars and have been on a roll since. Together, they strive to create excellent cigars that offer quality, flavor, and value.
After 20 plus years of working as a father and son dynamic duo, George Rico has created something totally his own. He jokes that with El Enemigo, he has entered his “Ronin” phase of cigar blending by reaching completely outside of his comfort zone. To make this project even more unique, it is Rico’s first cigar to be made outside of his factory in Honduras. Getting experimental, he partnered with one of the finest cigar factories in the Dominican Republic to create this project. But it is completely unique from anything they have produced before. El Enemigo features a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Colombian filler tobaccos along with an Ecuadorian binder. It is topped with one of the prettiest Ecuadorian Habano wrappers we’ve seen in quite some time. Tasting notes include flavors of earth, espresso, and peeper along with hints of cocoa, cream, and dried fruits. El Enemigo is limited to production of only 1000 boxes of each size per year.
