San Cristobal de la Habana was the name of the sixth town in founded by the Spanish on the tropical island of Cuba. It was named after the patron saint of Havana, Saint Christopher. Over the years, the name of the city was shortened to Havana and the San Cristobal part was noted in history books and forgotten for centuries. Ashton has owned the name since the 1980s, but patiently waited for the right partner to create this famous brand. In the early 2000s, Ashton began working with Don Pepin Garcia to expand their portfolio of premium cigars with their first Nicaraguan cigar. Pepin was incredibly excited to be developing a San Cristobal cigar he could barely keep the secret. In 2007, the world finally learned what they had been working on together behind closed doors.
A shimmering, dark-brown Cuban-seed Oscuro wrapper cultivated in Ecuador embraces a full-bodied interior of premium Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Tasting notes of espresso bean, dark chocolate, walnut, and black cherry accompany a spicy foundation in seven distinct shapes. The powerful and incredibly smooth profile received a 93-point rating in its debut year. Savor the bold and unmistakable taste of the original San Cristobal blend.
