Flathead is the newest release from CAO and master blender Rick Rodriguez. The story goes that Rick kept hearing the same motif when talking to consumers: Cigars, cars and girls. While that is a pretty sweeping generalization, I can definitely see where the idea came from. This is Ricky's "tribute" to all of the car guys that enjoy a good cigar while wrenching on their favorite machine, each size named after car parts and each box featuring a pin-up girl style poster. CAO has always had an edgier feel and I think this does a great job of continuing that trend; while ultimately all that matters is how good the cigar is, the packaging and style behind the brand still help foster the fan base. The boxes have an old 50's feel to them, hearkening back to a time of exaggerated fender flares and chrome bumpers. Using a dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over all Nicaraguan filler and binder tobacco's, this is a hot-rod for sure. Medium to full bodied with bold flavors of coffee, cocoa, earth and spice, this is a cigar many aficionados will fall in love with. It has an old school maduro taste to fit the old school motif!
