It’s not easy being known as the “Godfather” of premium cigars, but it is a title that Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, Jr. wears well. Since 1980, Ernesto has been making some of the most sought-after cigars in the world. His journey began in father’s (Ernesto Sr.) El Credito cigar factory in Little Havana, Miami in the mid 1970s. 4 years later, his father passed away and Jr. took the reins. He carried within him the 4 greatest lessons his father taught him: dedication to work, humility, patience and respect. These principles have guided him throughout his life and career. He is always patient and willing to lend a hand to friends in need, and it’s why he’s often known as the “godfather.” He may not be your relative, but he’s always around to provide advice or a helping hand to other cigar makers. He’s truly one of the nicest people in the cigar industry.
The E.P. Carrillo Allegiance is the latest offering under the family line of cigars from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. However, Allegiance is quite different from every other cigar in the family line as it is made in Nicaragua by the Oliva family. Having known the Oliva family for years, they were one of the few cigar families that EPC could trust to bring his latest vision to life. Allegiance features a blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos, and is covered by an 8th priming Sumatra seed wrapper from Ecuador. Medium-to-full in strength, these cigars featured bold and complex flavors of black coffee, pepper, and earth along with hints of cashews, savory spices, citrus, and honey. It’s another masterful blend from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and a testament to the skills of the Oliva cigar factory.
