There’s something exciting about watching a young cigar company hustle. They’ve got the vision and the drive; they usually have some angle to work; and hopefully they have the tobaccos and cigars to back it all up. Luckily for Reinier Lorenzo he did. In 2011 he founded HVC as a way of paying homage to Havana City where he lived for most of his life. He was inspired by his upbringing to keep the Cuban tradition of hand-made cigars alive and well. His focus is mainly on outstanding, small-crop Nicaraguan tobaccos that remind him of home. Each cigar in the HVC portfolio is a unique experience that in some way or another pays homage to his hometown. We jumped on the HVC band wagon early on, and it has been a pleasure to watch this outstanding upstart company gain traction and attention.
If you're a lover of Cuban cigars, you're going to want to hear this one. For nearly a decade, HVC has been ruling the boutique world with blends that taste so Cubanesque, they've famously confused some of the industry's biggest cigar authorities in blind taste testings. Born and raised in La Habana, Cuba, Reinier Lorenzo founded HVC, short for "Havana City Cigars" in 2011. Almost immediately, his relatively unknown brand began scoring high 90's ratings in magazines all over the world. We don't know how exactly he does it, but we CAN tell you this: The demand for this outfit in our store has been remarkable; and it's been that way since day one. Fresh off the boat, HVC's newest release has finally hit our shelves, and it's freaking outstanding. Introducing the HVC Serie A, another Cuban tasting treat teeming with flavor complexity. Billed as a Nicaraguan Puro and clocking in at a medium-plus, this smoke is packed with components of black pepper, carmel, earth, and a rich buttermilk finish.
