There’s something exciting about watching a young cigar company hustle. They’ve got the vision and the drive; they usually have some angle to work; and hopefully they have the tobaccos and cigars to back it all up. Luckily for Reinier Lorenzo he did. In 2011 he founded HVC as a way of paying homage to Havana City where he lived for most of his life. He was inspired by his upbringing to keep the Cuban tradition of hand-made cigars alive and well. His focus is mainly on outstanding, small-crop Nicaraguan tobaccos that remind him of home. Each cigar in the HVC portfolio is a unique experience that in some way or another pays homage to his hometown. We jumped on the HVC band wagon early on, and it has been a pleasure to watch this outstanding upstart company gain traction and attention.
HVC First Selection "The City" is coined after the city (Havana) where master blender Reiner Lorenzo grew up in Cuba. Growing up in Cuba immersed in tobacco and blending, it comes as no surprise that Lorenzo commands a huge following in the boutique industry with HVC Cigars. The City First Selection is comprised of Aganorsa leaf which has a smooth, medium-body that gives you mild white pepper and tasty earthiness. Throw on a delicious Corojo '99 wrapper and you'll get a phenomenal boost of spice and an impressive amount of smoke with every draw. The City First Selection has been hailed as extremely cubanesque in body and flavor and is definitely worth it.
