Joya de Nicaragua has a reputation for making high-quality, very bold, and flavorful cigars using Nicaraguan tobaccos. In the 1970s, it was considered the finest brand in Nicaragua and possibly the world. For over fifty years, the company has continued their proud tradition of producing outstanding cigars, and their future is bright. The company’s 1st landmark product in the modern age of cigars was the Antano 1970. At launch, it was one of the strongest cigars in the world (and still packs quite a punch). While they have created several outstanding cigars since Antano, they have usually stuck with cigars that lean on the medium-to-full strength spectrum.
When Joya de Nicaragua started experimenting with blending cigars in the mild-to-medium bodied realm, we took notice. It’s not that we didn’t think that the Joya team could make something different; on the contrary, we knew they could do it extremely well. Enter the Joya de Nicaragua Antano Connecticut (CT). Using the same blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos used for the Antano 1970, this Joya de Nicaragua is topped with a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper leaf that simply glows. It’s a masterful blend that is mild-medium in strength and extremely well balanced. Tasting notes include flavors of cream, cedar, and baking spices with hints of pepper and citrus. Forget what you think you know of JDN Antano cigars- this is a whole new and seriously enjoyable cigar!
