The Macanudo brand was born in 1968 when General Cigar Co. had acquired the trademark for use outside of Cuba. Originally the name was used as a frontmark for the Cuban brand Punch, but General Cigar had other plans. In 1971 the first Macanudo cigars were released. These first Macanudo cigars were made in Jamaica by veteran Cuban cigar maker Ramon Cifuentes and were world-renowned for their mild strength, smoothness and excellent flavor. In 2000 the decision was made to move Macanudo production to the Dominican Republic where better quality control and standards could be achieved. For over 50 years, Macanudo has been one of the best selling cigars in the US.
The Macanudo Inspirado series was designed to breathe fresh life into the storied Macanudo brand and attract a new generation of cigar smokers. Using fresh and bold packaging, the look is unique while subtle touches pay homage to the original. The Macanudo Inspirado White uses a complex blend of Nicaraguan (Condega, Jalapa) and Mexican San Andrés filler tobaccos along with an Indonesian binder. Topping this sumptuous blend is a beautiful, golden-brown Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper leaf. Tasting notes include flavors of earth, cedar, and baking spices along with hints of doughy breads and cream. The Macanudo Inspirado White is a whole new take on the brand, and we’re thrilled to see what else Inspirado has to offer!
