Ozgener Family Cigars is a new brand name in the industry, but the creator of this brand is certainly familiar. Tim Ozgener (former President of CAO cigars) has been working on other projects for the better part of a decade. After his family’s brand was purchased by General Cigar, he focused on uniting people from different backgrounds and bringing them joy, laughter, and positive moments through art and philanthropy. But there’s something about the premium cigar world that keeps you coming back for more. He formed Ozgener family cigars and has introduced a few blends. His focus with the brand will be to offer unique blends that can bring people together and break down barriers (much like his art and philanthropy projects).
The Ozgener Family Cigars Bosphorus is the second line to debut from this new brand. It pays tribute to the Bosporus Strait located in Istanbul in northwestern Turkey. It’s where the Ozgener family is from. The blend features a complex mix of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from 3 regions, a double binder setup utilizing Ecuadorian Connecticut and Nicaraguan Jalapa leaves, and it finally capped off with a dark and mysterious Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Tasting notes include flavors of earth, charred hickory, and pepper along with hints of cream, sea salt, and doughy breads. If cigars like this are what we can expect from Ozgener, the brand has a bright future.
